An engrossing introduction to the seven kingdoms and the free cities！ Having watched the TV series， reading the book is providing intricate details into the landscape and characters which is impossible to portray on television。 Highly recommended for the fans！ The map of Westeros that came with the bundle is a treasure for the readers。

Huge kuddos to the voice work。 It was truly exceptional。Let me begin by saying I have watched the series twice and actually loved the final season and ending。 It is a guilty pleasure I never meant to get hooked to。 I don't usually read the book after seeing the movie/TV show and I don't care much for fantasy。 Yet this was a fun world to read about。 Martin is a huge weirdo， but his world is fascinating。 I do wonder at how some of the characters could have been developed beyond their deaths。There Huge kuddos to the voice work。 It was truly exceptional。Let me begin by saying I have watched the series twice and actually loved the final season and ending。 It is a guilty pleasure I never meant to get hooked to。 I don't usually read the book after seeing the movie/TV show and I don't care much for fantasy。 Yet this was a fun world to read about。 Martin is a huge weirdo， but his world is fascinating。 I do wonder at how some of the characters could have been developed beyond their deaths。There is quite a bit of sex。 Not to the level of the television show， but enough to almost feel seedy and gratuitous。 I could see there being some triggering scenes so readers be aware。To the readers saying they are disturbed by the youth of Daenerys and appalled at her sexual relationship with her arranged husband I can't quite get behind that outrage about a fictional book。 For a story referred to as "medieval" it read as pretty accurate。 I can't imagine how shocked you must be about real life in the real world。 Read a history book and throw your weight behind real world change。Not sure I would say I would recommend this， it has a pretty specific audience。 Also not sure how quickly I will pick up book two， but for me it was a good listen。 。。。more

Power。 What is power？ And what becomes of it when it is Abused？ But what changes when power isn’t a thing that you have， but is something that you're fighting for？ The book Game of Thrones is a twisted tale of how power is the most desired possession， but when you finally are rewarded with it， is it worth it The price that you paid？ The price of power is high， and this series does an excellent job of explaining how the price for power isn’t always worth it。A Song of Ice and Fire， is the first no Power。 What is power？ And what becomes of it when it is Abused？ But what changes when power isn’t a thing that you have， but is something that you're fighting for？ The book Game of Thrones is a twisted tale of how power is the most desired possession， but when you finally are rewarded with it， is it worth it The price that you paid？ The price of power is high， and this series does an excellent job of explaining how the price for power isn’t always worth it。A Song of Ice and Fire， is the first novel in George R。R。 Martin’s world renowned series， A Game of Thrones。 This story begins with Lord Eddard Stark， and his family in the safety of the town of Winterfell， when King Robert visits him in his town of Winterfell and asks him to be his right hand man or more commonly known as the King's Hand。 This only causes his family to be split up and face challenges of their own。 Only to end in a whirlpool of violence， scandals， secrets， and bloodshed。North of all of this lies the Great Wall which protects the land from Unknown threats that lie beyond it， and is guarded by the Night's Watch， but when the brave force of the Night's Watch is dwindled down to nothing， who will protect the land in their place？ But East， across the Narrow sea lies the true heir to the Iron throne， but do they know what has become of it？ All of these stories are sewn together through the pages in this book， to create a land far from the one we are familiar with。 Transporting you。 It takes hold of your mind， and doesn’t let go。 I believe this book is worthy of four stars。 In my personal opinion the story is excellent with the way it engages you。 It leaves you wanting to continue flipping the pages， to find out what happens next。 And even at the end of the first book it leaves you wanting to know more。 However the only problem I personally have was with the style in which The story is told。 This story， engaging as it is， is told from a different person's perspective each chapter。 Considering there are close to 60 chapters in this book it can be hard to keep all of the story straight， and remember what last happened to the character you are currently reading about。 Despite this fact， The Way that the story is told only makes it more engaging。 Don’t let four stars be the reason why you don’t pick up this book， it Engulfs you with its unique descriptions and imagery。 It places you right next to the character in the scene。 The only downside is that it is confusing from the amount of characters， and from how the stories are always changing。 This is definitely one of those books that I wish I could read for the first time again， to re-experience for the first time the roller coaster of emotions I felt。 To get wrapped up in the story so deeply and it being the reason why I can’t Focus on other things。 So in conclusion I rate this book four out of five stars。Cersei Lannister。 Queen of the Seven Kingdoms， feared， hated， and has a cruel secret， which in truth only deepens the character's complexity。 About halfway through this tale， she says the most truthful and honest quote in the entire book。 “When you play the game of thrones， you win or you die。 There is no middle ground。” This quote， said in Chapter 45， page 429 is my favorite quote in the entire book。 This is because it tells the truth of the story， and the series in two sentences。 This quote is proven to be true more than once， and forces the reader to almost rethink what type of book you are reading， when in the end always makes you turn the pages faster。 。。。more

I loved this fantasy series。 It is brilliantly written and the cast of characters is rich， believable， and unforgettable。 The author does a good job at English idiom， which often spoils fantasy writing for me when American authors get this so badly wrong。 There are cracking scenes and the whole thing does what it sets out to do- entertain。 It is a great fantasy and deservedly admired and adored。

Best in class fantasy。 I just finished the TV show this month （Oct 21） and I loved it so much， I wanted to give the books a go。 I usually struggle with fantasy， but this was just such an enjoyable experience every step of the way that the 800+ page count never gave a single negative emotion。 In fact， this is one of those books that you don't want to end and/or are not thinking about rushing towards completion。 Cannot express enough how much I thoroughly enjoyed it。 This is right up there with Lo Best in class fantasy。 I just finished the TV show this month （Oct 21） and I loved it so much， I wanted to give the books a go。 I usually struggle with fantasy， but this was just such an enjoyable experience every step of the way that the 800+ page count never gave a single negative emotion。 In fact， this is one of those books that you don't want to end and/or are not thinking about rushing towards completion。 Cannot express enough how much I thoroughly enjoyed it。 This is right up there with Lord of the Rings （which I need to read）， Hobbit （want to re-read）， and first 1-3 Witcher books （cliff dive after that）。 I am admittingly not the biggest fantasy fan， but this is maybe what I need to help push me a little bit more towards this genre。 I am going to take at least a week or so break and then jump on book #2。 So far the show and the books have been 90% aligned。 The ~10% is very minor details and cosmetic/physical feature differences on characters versus actors for the most part。 Super excited to continue this amazingly epic storyline very soon。 。。。more
